Who We Are?
The Mission Statement
To advance the long-term Emotional Well-being of those in our community, especially veterans, first responders, and at-risk children, through meaningful interaction with horses that help foster healthy relationships, emotional awareness, and personal growth.
The Vision Statement
We imagined a world where, through the utilization of horses, every veteran, first responder, and at-risk child, could have the tools, resources, and support to live an empowered life and make positive contributions to their family and community.

The Idea was Born
My name is Sabra Rockwell, and I am the founder and President of The Rescue at Spirit Ridge Farm. I have been in law enforcement for 20 years. After retirement, I struggled with my life’s purpose. Having been a military wife, a cop’s wife and then a cop, I had no idea how to be a civilian. My entire adult life was spent in a military or
para-military environment. What was my purpose now, and what do I do with the leftover baggage (PTS) that I had compartmentalized over the years? When I was working it was easy to shove it in the jump bag and promise to get to it later. Problem! Later never came.
One day I ran across an article in a magazine called Horses for Heroes. It was an Equine Assisted Learning Veterans program. I knew what my horses had done for me but it never occurred to me to use them to try and help someone else. After much research, I knew this was what I wanted to do at the farm but I also realized that there was more learning on my part to be done. Along came the pandemic. While it slowed progress, it also gave me time to educate myself. With the help of my two best friends, Spirit Ridge Farm became The Rescue at Spirit Ridge Farm, Inc. a 501C3 Non-Profit on March 3, 2022.
